Support Staff
Apart from teaching and administration staff, another core group of staff are the support staff. They have managed so many areas to enable school activities to take place and underpin a great deal of the academic, sporting, boarding and cultural activities. Over the years a number of these services have been outsourced, and now Turftech staff work with Bishops staff in the grounds and gardens, Feedem staff manage the catering process, with their own staff and some Bishops staff, and a similar situation exists with Cristal, whose staff make up the majority of the cleaning staff. All of the Bishops staff who have played a role in the areas of support at Bishops are recorded below.
Those staff who work in the Cleaning Department, Catering Department and Boarding Houses include Rashied Goliath (cleaning supervisor), Sonya Hamdulay (assistant supervisor), Sharon Alberts, Mabel Andrews, Felicia Bentham, Alfred Blom, Brenda Daries, Marilyn May, Lerato Motlhank, Fiona Pamplin, Clarissa Pieters, Theodora Pokolo, Catherine Simelela, Cynthia Sitofile, Chanel Strydom, Lettie Visser and Angie Vula.
Sports, Performance and Wellness (SPW) staff include two strength and conditioning coaches in Mogammad Manuel and Matt Hoole, and a biokineticist, Niel Michau.
Stephen Ford was the school’s first School Driver, and he was followed by Tony Noon, who was later joined by Hilton Brink. After their retirement the department was enlarged and now includes Tyrone Adams, Unathi Cengani (until July 2024) and Mark Sickle. Sithembele Basholo is our Security Officer.
The current Grounds Department includes Sean Abrahams, Sintyo Nolan, Leon Botha and Shahied Theunissen.
The Maintenance Department includes electricians Trevor Kolbe and Cedric Opperman, as well as Basil Mondzinger, Shadrack Nongalo, John Goliath, Tony Ndevu, Wellington Kundhlande and Calvin Wainman (GIS).
The current Prep School Support Staff include Melissa Gertse, Patrick Jacobs, Heidi Johannes, Quinton Low-Shang, Robert Njokoya and Zetta Tieties.
Pre-Prep Teacher Assistants include Lulu Gedu, Lundikazi Krewu, Noluvuyo Tandwa, Kelly Kortjie, Princess Fongoqa and Charmaine Adams, and previously Rosemary Plaatjies, Elizabeth Snyders and Denise Swartz.
